This exhibition was curated and organized by myself.
The goal was to show interesting new ways within the medium of painting. Being underwhelmed by the works of famous Instagram artists I wanted to show painters whose work was not limited by commercial or marketing decisions.
The selected artists come from all over the world and have very different backgrounds. However what unites them is the urge to find new formal ways within the medium of painting. This is opposed to the claim that art has to be political or a commercial product.
I embrace the independent artist.

It was the best of times, it is the blurst of times!
There was a time, art was the highest dream of humankind.
There was a time, art was the radical way to express new possibilities of our world.
There was a time, art was the media incubating social revolutions.
Where does art lead us to?
Nowadays, art claims itself participative, but people still doubt how we could better
understand it.
Nowadays, art is shown in exclusive enclaves organized by hugely financialized art system,
as if the general public’s interest is unimportant.
Nowadays, art exists everywhere in the real and virtual worlds, but hard to distinguish itself
from everything else.
The exhibition The Blurst of Times is self-organized by 8 artists to show an alternative view
of contemporary painting. All of those who persisted in cultivating the painting field are
sincere and philosophic warriors. They are aware of the coming indispensable degrowth of
analog artwork but still fight for it in this increasingly digitalized art world. Despite doubts of
the current context, they adapt it critically to develop their work, as they acknowledge the
impact of contemporary media on their perception of life and art. Analog form can still offer
artistic possibilities – this believe moves them further in this virtual addiction-generated
environment.
The driving force in this challenge is the fundamental base of The Blurst of Times. The
artworks in this exhibition are the documentation of the artists’ battles in each their own way.
We welcome you to have a slow-down moment to rediscover the beauty of tangible
essentials and to witness this upstream combat.

Es war die beste aller Zeiten, es war die schlimmste aller Zeiten.
Es war das Zeitalter, in der Kunst außerordentliche Träume der Menschheit verkörperte.
Es war das Zeitalter, in der Kunst radikale neue Wege als Ausdruck unserer Zeit fand.
Es war das Zeitalter, in der Kunst soziale Revolutionen gebar.
Wohin führt uns Kunst heute?
Heutzutage verspricht Kunst partizipative Inhalte zu vermitteln. Trotzdem kann man daran zweifeln ob das zu einem tieferen Verständnis unserer Welt führt.
Heutzutage präsentiert sich Kunst in einem exklusiven Rahmen, welcher durch einen kommerziellen Markt definiert wird. Ganz so als ob gesellschaftliche Bedürfnisse keine Rolle spielen würden.
Heutzutage ist Kunst sowohl in digitalen als auch analogen Welten beheimatet ohne sich fest ab zu grenzen.
Die Ausstellung The Blurst of Times vereint 7 Positionen unterschiedlicher KünstlerInnen und hat den Anspruch alternative Möglichkeiten einer zeitgemässen Malerei zu zeigen. Alle, die im Bereich der Malerei bestehen sind auch philosophische Krieger. Sie sind sich bewusst, dass analoge Medien in einer zunehmend digitalisierten Welt zunehmend in Gefahr geraten. Trotz allem kämpfen sie für das Medium Malerei. Digitaler Kontext und neue Entwicklungen werden innerhalb des Mediums assimiliert um neue formale Möglichkeiten zu finden. Das Vertrauen darauf, dass das Analoge in der Kunst nicht von einer virtuellen Dystopie verdrängt wird eint die KünstlerInnen der Ausstellung.
Die treibende Kraft dieser Herausforderung bildet das gemeinsame Fundament von The Blurst of Times. Die ausgestellten Arbeiten sind dabei Dokumente, die diesen ganz individuellen künstlerischen Kampf aufzeigen. Die Besucher sind herzlich eingeladen sich auf eine entschleunigte Entdeckungsreise zu begeben und den Charme des Mediums Malerei neu zu entdecken.
